11 Months Old!

Janelle turned 11 Months Old yesterday! 1 more month Janelle will be 1 Year Old! That's fast! But Mummy said that Janelle can only celebrate her birthday on 10th April instead of 22nd March. Ah Ma commented that 1st Birthday must be celebrated on Chinese Lunar Calendar Date (26th Feb), which happens to fall on 10th April (Saturday). Daddy is working night shift on that day thus Mummy said we will just had a simple lunch buffet celebration with relatives and few close friends for Janelle.

Mummy is still thinking whether to get the TUTU skirt (With angel wings - from Cotton On) for Janelle 1st Birthday. Mummy arranged with Yi Yi to go shopping with her to get a new dress/skirt and shoe for Janelle. But due to Yi Yi busy schedule, Mummy and Yi Yi intended to go and shop for it as and when Yi Yi got free time. Mummy still haven't decide what type of birthday cake should Mummy get for Janelle. Fancy (2d/3d) cakes like Winnie the Pooh, Princess, Barney etc or simple cake from Four Leaves etc. Well, Mummy think she better make a trip down to Four Leaves cake shop and see what type of design they had for kids.

Janelle finally had teeths popping out! Mummy had been asking Ah Ma how come Janelle until 10 months old still doesn't teething yet. 3 weeks ago, Mummy saw 1 teeth pooping out from the lower gums. Few days later, Mummy saw 3 teeths pooped out for the upper gums! Wow, Mummy said Janelle's teeths came out all at one go! Janelle must be having a hard time "handling" her teething!

First Chinese New Year for Janelle!

Well, today is already the sixth day of Chinese New Day! Janelle had been busy for the first 2 days of Chinese New Year! Mummy and Daddy had brought Janelle to a lot of relatives' places to bai nian! First Day of Chinese New Year, Janelle woke up at 7am+ to prepare for house visiting. The first house that we went was Ah Ma (Bedok) house, followed by God-Grandmother, Grandmother (Tanjong Rhu), Grandmother (Yishun), God-Ah Ma (Toa Payoh) and Ah Ma (Simei)..... You all must be wondering that how come Janelle got so many Ah Ma & Ah Gong right? That's right, Janelle really had so many Ah Gong and Ah Ma! Hehe, so complicated right?

First 2 days of Chinese New Year were tiring days for Janelle as Janelle only slept at about 11pm+. Janelle seldoms sleep so late. Thus, in order to replenish sleep, Janelle slept till 9am+ the following days. Janelle took a far bit of photos but wasn't able to view it yet as all the photos are in Yi Yi's camera. Yesterday night, Mummy and Daddy brought Janelle to River Ang Bao. Janelle was very excited when Janelle saw those Uncle Ringo's rides. Janelle kept on pointing at those rides but Mummy said those rides are for adults and not suitable for kids/babies. Thus, Janelle can only see/view it instead of enjoying the ride. Mummy said that Janelle can forgot about her milk time whenever Janelle goes out. Normally at home, about 7.30pm+ Janelle will cry for milk. But yesterday, Janelle only cry for milk at about 9pm! Imagine there's a delay of 2hrs+. Janelle took a few photos at Hong Bao River. This time able to show you all the photos first as it was taken on Mummy's camera. Hehe.

10 Months Old!

Janelle turned 10 months old yesterday! Another 2 more months to Janelle 1st Birthday Party! Mummy and Daddy had not done any preparation for the party yet! Mummy started to felt panicky about it but Daddy commented that it was still early for the planning! Omg! Different opinion again! Well, Mummy said if ulitmately we are having a simple buffet lunch/dinner with family members @ home, it will not required much planning. But if decided to hold it at somewhere else, might have a problem getting the place etc! But Mummy think that most probably will be holding it at home.

Janelle had fever and cough for the past 2 days. Mummy was very worried and took leave to bring Janelle go see PD. Janelle fever did not subside after 4x of fever medication. Mummy was very worried and wanted to bring Janelle go KKH but was stopped by Ah Ma as Ah Ma said go KKH also no much use. Ah Ma asked Mummy to monitor further before making the decision. True enough, Janelle fever subsided yesterday afternoon! Mummy felt so happy and relieved. Janelle is back to her normal self, crawling and "climbing" around!

Christmas Gifts!

Janelle had received Christmas gifts from Auntie Sherrie, Auntie Lynda and Eilleen Mama! Janelle would like to thanks them for the gift! Janelle likes those gifts alot! Auntie Lynda had bought a piggy bank cum hair clip for Janelle, Auntie Sherrie and Eilleen Mama had bought clothes for Janelle! This is the first Christmas for Janelle but Janelle didn't get to go to town and enjoy the celebration caused everyone are busy helping out at the Ji Fou Tang Religious Ceremony which happened to fall on Christmas Eve and Day!

Mummy was on leave from 21st Dec 09 till 3rd Jan 09! It was a fantastic 2 weeks for Janelle cased Janelle can sleep later till 9am! Mummy was happy that Janelle gets to sleep as long as she wants caused once Mummy is back to work, Janelle has to wake up at 7.30am! But no choice, Mummy got to go out and work and earn $, if not Janelle will not have milk to drink! Thus, Janlle got to "suffer" by waking up early to go to Ah Ma house.

9 Months Old and Outing to Fidgets!

Mummy had been so busy recently that she had no time to update Janelle's blog till today! Janelle had turned 9 months old few days ago! Janelle recently had started to "talk" more! Daddy said that Janelle is learning to talk. But Daddy had instructed that Mummy can't talk back "baa baa", "blah blah" etc with Janelle. Daddy wants Mummy to speak "human" language with Janelle.

Last Wednesday, Mummy and Auntie Lynda brought Janelle and Hong Yi to Fidgets! Fidgets is Singapore's largest indoor soft play structure for children from 0-10 years, with dedicated baby and toddler play areas. Custom designed and manufactured in Australia by world leader Playtec, the structure includes the first automatic and interactive ball washing machine in Singapore reducing over 99% of germs. Fidgets is located at 200 Turf Club Road #04-05, Turf City. It's free entry for adults and babies under 1 years old! From those photos, you can see that Janelle enjoyed alot! Janelle played until forgotten about milk time! Janelle only asked for milk at about 3+pm!

R.I.P Dear JoJo!

Mummy's beloved dog, Jojo passed away todae! Ah Yi called Mummy early morning and said that Jojo is not feeling well. Once Mummy reached Ah Ma's house, Mummy immediately sent Jojo to see vet when Mummy saw Jojo was still panting heavily. Once we reached the clinic, the vet said Jojo's heart beat is not regular. The vet said that Mummy had to send Jojo to Mount Pleasant Hospital immediately. But there's a risk involved when sending Jojo to hospital. Jojo might collapse on the way to hospital due to lack of oxygen. Mummy decided that she will send Jojo over immediately.

During the journey, Jojo wasn't really feeling very well. Mummy can see that Jojo lips and tongue turning purpish! Mummy can seems that something is not right! Mummy kept on shouting at Jojo and asked her to tolerate till they reached the hospital! Mummy was very panicky! She really hope that Jojo will be able to make it! Mummy tried to drive as fast as she can but due to the heavy rain and traffic jam, Mummy was trying her best to squeeze her way through the jam. Halfway through the journey, Jojo really can't make it. Mummy saw that Jojo took her last breath and collapsed down. Jojo passed away just like tat! Mummy broke down but still try her very best to drive till the hospital. Once Mummy reached the hospital, Mummy carried Jojo in the the vet. The vet pronounced that Jojo's heart had already stopped beating. Mummy cried till like nobody business! Y Jojo choose to leave us todae! Todae is Jojo's 8 Year Old birthday! It's had also became her death anniversary!

Mummy's called Ah Yi and Ah Gu they all to rushed down to the hosptial to see Jojo one last time. Mummy and Ah Yi had choosen to do private cremation for Jojo and also witness the cremation. The date was fixed on 27th Dec 09 @ 10am.

Family Day & Janelle's Play Time!

Well, recently Mummy doesn't get to work over the weekends. Last Sunday, we had our family day! We went to Bugis with Ah Ma and Ah Gu to buy some praying stuffs! Mummy said long time didn't get to go shopping during weekends. It was so crowded at Bugis! And we went to shop for about 3 hours+! On the same day, Yi Yi went for her Singapore Standard Chartered Marathon, 10km! Yi Yi took 1hr 24mins to complete the run! Horray for Yi Yi! It seems to be a satisfying results for Yi Yi caused Yi Yi didn't get to train for this run.

It was a tiring day for Mummy & Daddy caused when Janelle reached home, Janelle is still very active and playing around! Daddy and Mummy managed to capture a video of Janelle's playing with the small sofa! Enjoy the video!

Milestones for 8 Months Old

Based on the below milestones, Janelle acheived 100%! Mummy commented that Janelle had been so active recently that Mummy felt exhausted looking after Janelle.

Month 8

Baby is in a busy phase now, ready to use his/ her hands for a variety of meaningful gestures. He/ she is quite the explorer now too so always keep a close eye on baby’s movements! Keep in mind that each child is different. It’s normal for babies to achieve these milestones a little later than others. Do consult your child’s paediatrician if you are worried.

What to expect from your child:

Physically and mentally
• Understands object permanence—that his/ her toys don’t disappear when hidden
• Crawls easily, even when holding an object
• Uses thumb and index finger (pincer grasp) to pick up or move toys around
and also investigate small spaces
• Remembers recent events
• May attempt to stand, while holding onto a chair or table

Language and emotions
• Begins to show signs of extreme attachment to main caregiver — also
called ‘separation anxiety’
• Experiments with a variety of vowel and possibly, consonant sounds

Sleep
Babies at this age may wake up at night all over again. It can be frustrating for parents who have gotten used to getting some sleep at last. But be patient. Your baby will soon be getting more active and as a result, tire more easily and sleep better too.

Ideal toys for this age
• Toys with attachments like levers and buttons that produce sounds when
pressed
• Baby-friendly snap-together toys
• Board books that encourage pointing, touching, stroking etc

Useful tips
Encourage your baby to get physically involved with toys. If he/she drops a toy, teach baby to lunge, reach for it or roll it to you on his/ her own. Help to show baby what happens when he/ she pushes a button or lever. These exercises will help to strengthen your child’s muscles for other physical changes to come.

8 Months Old!

Janelle turns 8 months today! Mummy commented that time really flies! Another 4 more months, Janelle will turn 1 year old! Mummy is still deciding on Janelle 1 year old Birthday Party! Should Mummy get those cupcakes and 2D cake for Janelle birthday party or should it just be a simple birthday party with simple cartoon character cake? Mummy felt that 2D cakes might not taste as good as those normal cakes as it seems to be more creamy etc. Well, Mummy said she gonna discuss with Daddy on this issue. Mummy got a feeling that mostly it will be a simple birthday party with relatives and close friends as Mummy felt that Janelle is too young for big party! Recently, Janelle had been trying to stand up whenever Janelle holds on to anything! Mummy really had to divert 100% attention on Janelle whenever she's crawling around! It was really very tedious job for everyone who looks after Janelle!

Something happened to Janelle yesterday! Janelle fell down from the yao lan! The amazing issue is that Ah Ma had ensured that Janelle is sleeping soundly and zipped up the clothes before Ah Ma went for her shower. Ah Ma had just stepped in to the bathroom when she heard Janelle's loud cries! Ah Gu rushed over and found Janelle lying on the floor crying. Ah Ma felt so heart pain. When Mummy reached home in the evening, Ah Ma told Mummy about the incident. Well, Mummy said that it's ok as baby and kids are prone to incident even though 100% attention are on them. As long as Janelle is fine and still can play around with everyone!

New Bed for Janelle!

Mummy and Daddy bought a new bed for Janelle. It's a safety bed with supports or cushions on all 4 sides. Mummy had been deciding whether to go ahead with the purchase since few months ago till Janelle did a stunt on last week which made Mummy firm up her decision to go ahead with the purchase.

Last week, Mummy put Janelle on the bassinet and walked off to do some stuffs in the kitchen. Mummy had been doing that everyday since Janelle was born. About 5 mins later, Mummy came into the room. Mummy's jaws almost dropped off! Janelle had crawled out of the bassinet, with half of her body still inside the bassinet! Luckily, Mummy had pushed the bassinet next to the bed. Thus, if Janelle was to "drop out", Janelle will not knock her head.

After this incident, Mummy told Daddy that Janelle needs to sleep on the floor with mattress. Mummy's colleague, Bibi, had recommended Mummy a safety bed. Mummy told Daddy we can consider buying that caused it saved Mummy's troubles to put pillows and bolsters all around Janelle when Janelle is sleeping on the floor with mattress. Daddy had no objection to it and best of all, Daddy said he will pay for that! Yippe, Mummy so happy! Daddy willingly to pay $288 for that bed!

On Thursday, Daddy needs to work later thus was unable to go with Mummy to collect the bed. Luckily Yi Yi knocks off early, Yi Yi helped Mummy out. When Daddy and Mummy saw that bed, Daddy commented that it was such a huge bed! Daddy said that next time got Baby, asked Janelle to share it with the baby! Mummy was thinking how can let the Baby sleeps with Janelle. She's such a "violent" sleeper! Haha! Ultimately, Mummy and Daddy felt that it's a good buy! Thanks Auntie Bibi for her recommendation and Yi Yi for her help for "delivering" the bed for Janelle!
